Template — legal review required
This privacy policy explains how Skolyn, Inc. ("we", "us") collects, uses and protects personal information when you visit this website or contact us through it. It also summarises how we handle student and guardian data on behalf of schools that use the Skolyn platform.
1. Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly, such as when you request a demo or send us a message:
- Contact details: your name, work email address, phone number (optional), school or organisation and role.
- Request details: number of students, products or solutions of interest, preferred meeting times and any message you include.
- Technical information: IP address and browser user agent, recorded with form submissions for security and abuse prevention.
We ask that you do not include information about individual students in website forms.
2. How we use information
- To respond to your demo request or enquiry and arrange meetings.
- To protect our website and forms against spam, fraud and abuse.
- To improve our website and services.
We do not sell personal information. [Describe any marketing communications and the lawful basis for processing applicable in your jurisdiction.]
3. Student and guardian data processed for schools
When a school uses the Skolyn platform, the school is the data controller for the student, guardian and staff records it holds there, and we act as its processor under a data processing agreement. This can include student names, dates of birth, attendance, grades, wellbeing and medical notes, guardian contact details and fee records.
- We process this data only on the school's documented instructions and to provide the platform.
- We never sell student data or use it for advertising or to build profiles unrelated to the school's educational purposes.
- Requests from parents, guardians or students to access, correct or delete records should be made to the school, and we help schools respond.
[Describe the lawful bases, children's data protections and regulations applicable in each jurisdiction served — for example GDPR, UK GDPR, FERPA, COPPA or state student privacy laws — and confirm them with counsel. This section is a template and must be reviewed before launch.]
4. Cookies
This website uses strictly necessary cookies to maintain your session and protect forms against cross-site request forgery. [List any analytics or marketing cookies and how consent is obtained.]
5. Sharing
We share information only with service providers who process it on our behalf (for example hosting and email delivery), under contracts that require appropriate safeguards. [List categories of sub-processors, hosting regions and international transfer mechanisms.]
6. Retention
We retain enquiry information only as long as necessary for the purposes described above. Student and guardian data is retained according to each school's instructions and returned or deleted when the school's agreement ends. [Specify retention periods.]
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal information. To exercise these rights, contact hello@corevia.example.
8. Security
We use administrative, technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
9. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
