About Skolyn

We give schools time back for learning

Schools shouldn't need six systems and a shared drive of spreadsheets to know how every child is doing. We build the platform that makes a connected, well-run school the default — not a summer-holiday project.

Mission and vision

Mission

Give leaders, teachers, students and parents the same clear picture of every child — and the time to act on it.

Vision

A world where every school, of any size, runs as smoothly as the best-resourced ones — and every child gets noticed.

Our story

It started with six systems and one tired deputy head

Before Skolyn, our founder was a deputy head at a busy secondary school. Every end of term started the same way: registers in one system, grades in another, fees in a third and parent contacts in a spreadsheet — and nobody could answer the simple question "how is this student really doing?"

The problem wasn't a lack of software — it was too much of it, none of it talking to the rest. Teachers re-typed marks into report templates, the office chased fees by phone and pastoral concerns surfaced weeks after the warning signs first appeared.

“We wanted one place where every child's story was complete, and where acting on it was as easy as reading it.”

So we built it with a group of partner schools. First a single student record and attendance, then the classroom and gradebook, then admissions, fees and an app for families. Today Skolyn is one connected platform that helps leaders, teachers, students and parents spend less time on admin and more time on learning.

Values

What we believe

The principles we use to make decisions — about our product, the schools we serve and each other.

01

Learning comes first

Every feature has to give time back to teaching or help a student thrive. If it only adds admin, we don't ship it.

02

Guard every child's data

Schools trust us with information about children and families. We treat privacy, safeguarding and uptime as non-negotiable.

03

Built with educators

Teachers, leaders and bursars shape our roadmap. We test with real schools before anything reaches a classroom.

04

One school community

Leaders, teachers, students and parents should all see the same picture. We design for every role, not just the office.

Milestones

How we got here

  1. 2019

    The spreadsheet problem

Our founder, then a deputy head, spends a summer reconciling registers, fee ledgers and report data across six systems — and decides there must be a better way.

  2. 2020

    One student record

The first SIS and Attendance modules launch with a handful of partner schools, built around a single shared student record.

  3. 2022

    Into the classroom

LMS and Exams & Gradebook bring lessons, homework and assessment onto the same platform as the school office.

  4. 2024

    Families connected

Admissions, Fee Management, the Parent Portal and the Mobile App complete the journey from enquiry to graduation.

  5. 2026

    AI-assisted insight

AI & Analytics helps leaders spot students who may need support earlier, with every insight reviewed by a person.

Our approach

Innovation that earns its place

Two commitments shape everything we build and every school partnership.

Innovation with purpose

We invest in new capabilities — like AI early-warning insights — only where they give time back to educators or help a student. Every AI feature keeps a person in the loop, explains its suggestions and can be switched off.

  • No disruptive changes during term time
  • Partner schools test features before launch
  • Transparent, opt-in AI

School success as a discipline

A successful first term matters more than a signed contract. Every school gets a clear rollout plan timed around its academic year, measurable goals and a team accountable for reaching them.

  • Named success contacts on Scale and above
  • Termly impact reviews
  • Open roadmap sessions with educators
